Starting from scratch
It was 2005 and I had been smuggling my lunch to work in a variety of unfashionable and quasi-functional bags … a plastic grocery store bag, Victoria’s Secret bag, and worst of all, my children’s grungy, leftover lunch totes.

After sharing my dilemma and discontent about the lack of attractive lunch totes with a group of male colleagues … they simply asked me one, profound question. “Why don’t you just design your own?”

Typical guys. They told me to solve my own problem. So I did.

With nothing more than a great brand name and an idea for insulated lunch bags that would appeal to women and girls everywhere … Haute Lunch grew from a concept, to a prototype, to a real live product.

By 2007, I desperately needed a business partner who would love Haute Lunch as much as me. One of my dearest and most talented friends, Kara Andrew, graciously accepted the offer to get on board with Haute Lunch – and the rest is history.

Since then, Kara and I have plodded through fabrics, handle materials, and countless sample revisions to reach our introductory collection. Haute Lunch has been the most fun, difficult, and exciting project we’ve ever worked on – but it’s definitely worth the effort.
